James’ recovery progress
Posted by Peter in PhotosComments (0)

I’m very happy to report that James is feeling much better! Thanks to his mom, Lynette, you can see it for yourself! :)

James continues to get better everyday. His swallowing abilities returned last Wednesday, so he has been enjoying food with a little more consistency. He is moving around better and his strength is beginning to return. Thanks for everyone’s concern and prayers!

James released from the hospital

Some photographic insight into James’ frightening battle with botulism and his remarkable ongoing recovery. Stay strong, James!

James was discharged around 4 yesterday afternoon.

Before he was discharged, physical therapy came by to see if he could walk without a walker, walk in tennis shoes and to check how stable he was on his feet.

He was wheeled outside and the sun was shining bright and beautiful. He sat at first and just enjoyed the sunshine and being outside. Then, he stood to his feet and walked, with incredible balance and strength. After walking, sitting and walking again, a new exercise was introduced. He was asked to stand in a still position and bounce a ball. She told him when he felt comfortable he could try to walk and do a few bounces.

Well, to everyone’s utter amazement, not only did he walk but he walked and dribbled the ball, was able to walk and pass the ball and do a bounce pass with only teetering twice. The therapist was astounded and told him that he should not have been able to do all of that. But God!

He requested to be wheeled to ICU to tell all of his nurses that he was going home. What a reunion it was, such joy on everyone’s face.

After, he was wheeled to the exit and he put himself in the front seat. By the time got into the hotel room, he was one exhausted young man. I ran and picked up his medication and then he requested a bath. He slept sound last night, no interruptions to take the blood pressure, breathing treatments or just hospital noises.

We are all so grateful and thankful for everything.

I have uploaded more pictures of his exit yesterday.

Sunday, we will be flying to Colorado so we can fatten him up and help rehab his body.

Update on James’ health

On January 21st James contracted Botulism. He has been in the hospital since January 30th and in ICU since February 2nd, but things are starting to change in a good way! James has not had the use of his vocal chords for over 2 weeks now, but is expressing his appreciation with a bold “thumbs up”.

Today has been a better day!

Even though no one could complain concerning the advancements that were taking place with James, the barrage of additional complications were frustrating, aggrevating and discouraging.

The great news is that it appears that James’ diaphragm has woke up and the paralysis is lifting. He began to cough (difficult to watch when you have a tube down your throat) but fabulous that his reflexes are working and that he just had the ability to cough.

The pneumonia in his right lobe increased and so the thought of breathing exercises were put on hold. Between just being exhausted, ready for normalcy, coughing and just not feeling well, yesterday was James’ first day of discouragement.

Today has been a rainy day in LA, but the sun has been shining in ICU! He weened off of the breathing machine for 4 hours with very strong numbers from his blood draws. Everyone is so encouraged. The hope is that they will try to extubate him tomorrow.

He still has many challenges. Tomorrow will be the 21st day since he has had food. His body is suffering the effects of massive antibiotics. Also, it is not clear of the amount of paralysis that is trying to linger in his throat and tongue.

But God!

Again, thanks for your dedication to pray, for taking time to write him a message and for your thoughtfulness.

Unreleased project – Shadowlands
Posted by Peter in Movies and TV, PhotosComments (1)

Over a year ago James worked on a web series called Shadowlands. Unfortunately, despite an overall interesting plot it has never been released:

Zach finds out he’s adopted when he’s eighteen. Now, four years later, his biological father contacts him on Facebook and wants to meet. Packing up his friends, Zach takes off to Death Valley to confront his dad. No one’s prepared for what he finds…

Here’s some on-set photography taken back in 2010.
